National Childcare Disaster Readiness Certification

Congratulations on your decision to pursue a Childcare Disaster Readiness Certification!

Your commitment to child safety and dedication to exceeding the "minimums" is to be commended!!

Our brochure National Childcare Disaster Readiness Certification (available below) provides a great overview of the certification program, prices, and requirements.

** This certification is available for child care programs, before and after care programs, preschools and nursery schools. **

Levels of Certification

There are three types of childcare disaster readiness certification offered: the Bronze Level, the Silver Level, and the Gold Level.

  • Certification at Bronze Level indicates the childcare has not just met, but exceeded, state disaster preparedness levels.

  • Certification at Silver Level indicates the childcare has exceeded 2014 Childcare Development and Block Grant Act requirements.

  • Certification at Gold Level indicates the childcare has exceeded the 2010 National Commission on Children and Disaster recommendations.

Re-Certification and Upgrades
All certifications are valid for two years from approval of designated level. To maintain certification through the re-evaluation period (should that exceed the expiration date), it is recommended that applications be submitted 60-90 days prior expiration to allow sufficient time for evaluation to be determined prior to certification culmination. Re-certification fees are offered at a 15% discount to reward commitment to maintenance of disaster ready standards.

Childcare organizations that would like to submit an application for upgrade within the same calendar year can do so at a discounted rate. Lower level certifications applied for and granted only need the annotation of date conferred.  These upgrade requests will be discounted 50%, and the qualification awards (if applicable) will be backdated to the original certification date.

If the application exceeds the expiration date of the previous certification award, childcare organizations will need to submit a new application and will not qualify for the discounted upgrade rate.
